Overview:
 
The Director of Operations is primarily responsible for establishing and implementing strategies and tactics to enhance the business operations of the Calgary Zone Service Plan. This position also is responsible for day to day management and supervision of the Calgary Zone business unit and their personnel. The Director oversees work plan processes, reviews financial information and provides updates on findings and recommends changes. The Director will play a key role in implementing, managing and supporting the various Calgary Zone task groups who are responsible for the implementation of the CZ Service Plan. The CZ Service Plan outlines how the seven Calgary PCNs and their Alberta Health Service partner will deliver primary health care services to the citizens of Calgary and area.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Key aspects of the position may include, but are not limited to:  
  • Monitor and report on CZ Service Plan outcomes and ensure compliance with legislative requirements and Calgary Zone PCN’s strategic goals
  • Manage, provide supervision, HR support and leadership, in conjunction with CZ leads, the CZ business unit personnel
  • Liaise with relevant Committees/Task Groups
  • Coordinate and oversee task group outcomes
  • Report on a timely basis progress and challenges
  • Enable the development of communication methods to educate the seven Calgary Zone PCN’s, AHS and other stakeholders on progress of programs and initiatives
  • Oversee and support the procurement processes and coordinate resources and material allocation for CZ business unit and task groups
  • Revise and create policies and guidelines and oversee/ensure compliance as required
  • Oversee various projects of the CZ Business Unit and provide leadership
  • Demonstrate forward thinking for future obstacles by understanding the internal and external environment
  • Recommend strategic, zone-wide objectives and ensure the implementation of planning initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with all seven Calgary Zone PCNs, AHS, AMA, Alberta Health and other stakeholders
Qualifications:
 
Education:
  • Graduate degree such as Masters of Business Administration, Master of Health Administration or other advanced degree or equivalent education and experience
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of senior management leadership with a demonstrated ability to foster and maintain a positive and cooperative work environment
  • Experience with fiscal management and responsibility, business financial, funding, contracts and partnerships
  • Has shown progressively more responsible experience in a leadership role preferably in health care or non-profit organization
