We are currently seeking applications from individuals interested in serving for a two or three-year term as members at large on our Governance Board.

Responsibilities
  1. Understand and demonstrate a commitment to the CRPCN’s vision, mission and goals.
  2. Oversee the development and implementation of the strategic business plan.
  3. Understand the CRPCN’s financial reports.
  4. Monitor and strengthen programs and services.
  5. Enhance CRPCN’s public standing.
  6. Select, support and formally evaluate the Executive Director and Medical Director.
Competencies for Members at Large
  1. Meaningful experience with Alberta health care system.
  2. Commitment to help improve primary care.
  3. Board experience, preferably with non-profit organizations.
  4. Expertise that could add depth to the current Board competency; such as legal, finance, business, political engagement, community leadership.
  5. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong reputation for fairness and principled decision-making.
  6. Excellent listening and communication skills.
  7. Ensure ethical integrity. Avoid any potential conflicts of interest. Understand and maintain confidentiality.
  8. Demonstrated community involvement.
Equivalencies will be considered for the above.

Residency Requirement
Applicant must live within the CRPCN catchment. (Arrowwood, Black Diamond, Bragg Creek, Chestermere, Claresholm, Eden Valley, Gleichen, High River, Langdon, Nanton, Okotoks, Siksika, Strathmore, Turner Valley, or Vulcan and surrounding areas)

Location
Meetings are held monthly in Okotoks

Remuneration and Time Commitment
This is a volunteer position; although expenses such as mileage and child care are covered.
Members are expected to attend monthly two-hour meetings, semi-annual Board retreats, 2 to 3 days of training per year and the AGM. An additional three to four hours per month is asked of Board members, to be spent reading materials, and looking for opportunities that benefit the CRPCN.

About the CRPCN
Primary Care Networks, created by joint venture agreements between physician organizations and Alberta Health Services, were created to ensure that patients have seamless access to consistent and comprehensive primary health care. Since 2006, the CRPCN has been building capacity to fulfill this mandate. Primary care in general has moved to the forefront of our health care system.

Our PCN works closely with Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health and the Alberta Medical Association to ensure we are fulfilling the objectives that have been provided to us and to ensure clear accountability.
